Sharper Image Remote Control Flip Stunt Rally Car Review – Overview

The Sharper Image Flip Stunt Rally RC car is a fun RC car that can be operated indoors or out.

It is not a hobby grade vehicle, meaning you will not be able to head to your local hobby store to pick up replacement and upgrade parts.

This RC vehicle is not waterproof, so be careful to avoid getting it wet when driving outdoors.

The car is pretty peppy for its size and has a neat flip feature that causes the car to flip over with a click of the stunt button. When the car is cruising at top speed, hit the button and your red RC becomes a white RC!

The flip is the main feature of the car, but it also does some other neat things such as 360° spins and is basically crash proof…Believe me I tried!

It also has some super cool LED headlights that kids will really love.

Sharper Image Flip Stunt Rally RC Car – Controller

The controller for the Sharper Image Flip Stunt Rally Car is unique in that it operates like a tank or track vehicle.

To go:

Forward – Push forward on both sticks.

Backwards – Pull back on both sticks.

Turn Right – Push forward on left stick.

Turn Left – Push forward on right stick.

360° Spin – Push one stick forward while simultaneously pulling the other stick back. The car will spin in whichever direction you choose.

While the operation of the controller took a little getting used to, it is by no means difficult to master and actually becomes enjoyable to operate.

Who Is The Sharper Image Flip Stunt RC Car For?

As I mentioned earlier, the Sharper Image Flip Stunt Rally Car is virtually Un-wreckable.

The manufacturer recommended age is 6, but this is just a recommendation due to small parts, choking hazards and things of that nature.

I would personally think that at 4-5 years old any kid would have a ball with this thing. Just like with most things, adult supervision and judgement will determine the proper age for this RC.

So long answer short, the Sharper Image Flip Stunt RC is for just about anyone…Even big kids like me. 🙂

I have had a ball driving this thing around the house. The cats love playing with it just about as much as we do!

    NOTE:
We have tried to run 2 cars in close proximity to find that they work off some of the same signals. So 1 controller with 2 cars causes both to respond to some combinations, not the exact same though.

      Hey Dean,
I would definitely return it if you are going to be running 2 all the time.
This definitely should not happen. One of the frequencies were not set properly. Sorry to hear you are having a problem. Hopefully you don’t have any issues returning it, if that’s what you decide on.

We have the same situation with 2 cars running on the same frequencies.
How can we change a frequency to get 2 independent operation?
If we are to return one, is there a different model to choose?

        Hi JP,
If you are getting interference between the 2 RC’s that make it difficult or impossible to operate, I would definitely send one back. It sounds like something happened when the frequency was set. Unfortunately there is no way to reset the frequency on the Street Thrasher.
For a little more money, I would suggest considering getting into hobby grade RC’shobby grade RC’s An RC like the Redcat PiranhaRedcat Piranha would be the perfect start.
Thanks for stopping by & let me know if I can help with anything!

I got one for my daughter recently and it just stopped working after a few days. I changed the batteries and it just makes this kind of high pitched whine and the lights flash but no motion. Any ideas?

      Hi,
This sounds like stripped gears. If you’ve only had it a few days, I would return for replacement/refund as this is a toy grade RC & you will not be able to open the gear box for repair.
If you would like to get into a hobby grade RC, there are tons of them for any budget.
We have reviewed many RC’s on YouTube you can see in action – http://bit.ly/RCIYTUBE

      Hi James,
Sorry to hear about your issues.
Is the battery fully charged & installed correctly?
If this is correct, there may be a receiver/transmitter issue.

Just bought this toy new batteries and remote light in and car on but car will not move at all. Put another set of fresh batteries and car won’t move. Kid is sad. Can you help.
P.s. bought yesterday, 12/18/21 , unboxed today 12/19/21 and won’t work. Threw the box away cause by God, it’s Sharper Image and they make awesome working products.
